Discover Track & Field - Read More
Discover T&F is designed for athletes from 8 to 11 years old. Two programs of 6 to 8 weeks are offered, one in the fall and one in the spring.
We strongly believe that athletes of that age group should develop a wide variety of sport skills. This will result in children with diverse athletic proficiencies and a higher likelihood of them finding a life-long sport. We encourage parents to expose their children to as many sports as possible.
Training is tailored to the age level of participants with an emphasis on fun. We concentrate on developing functional movement skills (joints mobility, stability and coordination) and building the fundamental movements (jumping, running and throwing) that are the basis of success in any sport, while not forgetting our Track & Field roots. The emphasis on constant activity makes for a fun experience for the child, while insuring gains in fitness. Athletes are not obligated to participate in competition but are welcome to do so.
Discover T&F athletes are invited to train once a week (see our Facebook page for specific time and location). The program is available during the fall and spring seasons. membership includes, access to training facilities, coaching fees and a Freds T-shirt. Our members also have to register with Athletics NB which is done on-line at the same time you register with us. Discover T&F athletes are supervised by coaches that are NCCP trained and have filed a police security check.

Intermediate Program is designed for athlete from around 10 to 13 years old.
Ideal for young athletes participating in any sport, our program targets the basic skills of running, jumping, and throwing that are an intrinsic part of almost every sport. Improving these abilities will transfer to increased performance in almost any sport. Functional movement skills (joints mobility, stability and coordination) are evaluated and developed. Intermediate program is based on Athletics Canada\'s popular "Run Jump Throw" program ( LTAD). We concentrate on developing the ability to run, jump and throw correctly in these young athletes. At the same time, we expose the athletes to many of the Olympic Track & Field events, and encourage them to develop their ability to perform and enjoy these events. This emphasis allows children to gain knowledge of Track & Field, and also develop the skills of running, jumping, and throwing that are common to so many sports. Mental skills important is sport such as confidence, focus, relaxation, are introduced.
Intermediate athletes are invited to train twice a week (see our Facebook page for specific time and location). The program is available during the indoor and outdoor seasons. membership includes access to training facilities, and coaching fees. Our members also have to register with Athletics NB which is done on-line at the same time you register with us. NOTE that we do not have the coaching staff able to offer this program to para-athletes in wheel chair. We remain interested in offering this service in the future.
Not a program per se, Para athletes are included in every program. Athletes learn to train at most track and field events for their appropriate class/category for their ability. The Athletes are able to compete in provincial meets (inclusive). Emphasis is placed on achieving personal best performances in chosen events, rather than overall placement.
